After the antidumping investigation and measures taken by the USA on China's prawn exports in 2004, in 2007 China's prawn market fluctuated considerably again, recently revealed the Aquatic Product Chamber of Commerce under the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce.
Last year, China exported approximately 54,000 t of prawns to the USA, with the export value at US$ 260M, dropping by 20% and 21.2% year-on-year respectively.
Experts estimate that China's shrimp and prawn products headed for the USA will see their export volume slump and most likely drop by more than 10,000 tons to approximately 44,000 tons - 45,000tons.
